The Commissioner of Elections is responsible for all federal, state, and county elections including city, school, and special elections.
The Auditor's Office receives nomination papers and public measures to be placed on ballots.
The Commissioner prepares and monitors the processing of all the absentee ballots in order to aid voters who are unable to be at the polls on election day.
As custodian of the election, the commissioner certifies the results of the state or local entity involved and issues certificate of election to the proper person.
City of Crawfordsville Special Election - August 28, 2018
Nomination papers are now available at the Washington County Auditor's Office for City of Crawfordsville residents who are interested in running for a vacant council position on the Crawfordsville City Council. The vacancy, filled by appointment by the City Council, has been called for special election which will be held on August 28, 2018. The Nomination Petition filing period has started and the deadline is August 3, 2018, at 5:00 p.m. The Petition should have at least 10 signatures from Crawfordsville residents and should be filed with the Crawfordsville City Clerk. Mid-Prairie School Board Special Election - August 28, 2018
Nomination papers are now available at the Washington County Auditor's Office for Mid-Prairie School District residents who are interested in running for a position on the Mid-Prairie School Board. The vacancy was filled by appointment, but a special election has now been called for this office and will be held on August 28, 2018. Nomination Petitions should be filed with the School Board Secretary. The filing period has started and the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on August 3, 2018. The Petition must have at least 50 signatures from registered voters of the Mi-Prairie School District and must be accompanied by an Affidavit of Candidacy.
