PRESS RELEASE

CONSTRUCTION HALTED ON 330TH STREET

December 5, 2011

On Monday, December 05, 2011, 330th Street, 6.5 miles southwest of Crawfordsville, was opened to traffic following approximately 1 mile of regrading and surfacing work.

DeLong Construction, Inc., of Washington, IA started working on this road on November 11th and worked as long as they could while the weather cooperated. With the weather turning colder, the ground is freezing and not drying as fast, so DeLong Construction decided to wrap up construction activities for the year and then wait to finish construction next spring when the ground thaws out and conditions are favorable. Assistant County Engineer Jacob Thorius said, “This is a good decision on their part and we should end up with a better product next spring.”

Washington County will maintain the road throughout the winter and asks for patience and understanding regarding the condition of the road, especially where they have done some minor work that will be completed next spring. Questions pertaining to the project should be directed to the Washington County Engineer's Office at (319) 653-7731.
